We all know that Millennials should save early towards their retirement. However, most of us are stuck in unsatisfying jobs with not much leftover to save. You might be looking for ways to make that extra buck but may not have a clue where to start. So how can we make extra money? Well if you have creative skills, computer knowledge, and a will to put in some work, then my friend you are in luck. There are many ways you can create opportunities to make extra cash. Here is a list of ideas you can make some money as a millennial:
Virtual assistants: As a virtual assistant, you perform administrative tasks such as following up with clients, responding to emails, booking appointments, etc. The best part is that you can work as a virtual assistant, in the comfort of your own home.
Freelance writers: If writing is your strength, do not hesitate to get that money. As a freelance writer, you can write essays, articles, web content, blog posts and the list go on. Freelance writers have plenty of opportunities. According to Indeed, a freelance writer makes about $27 an hour.
Digital Copywriters: Copywriting is another hustle that you can get into if you have a strong background in writing. But unlike a freelance writer, digital copywriting is writing geared to digital marketing and advertising. Some of the tasks that a Digital Copywriter does is write content for email newsletters, website, social media accounts, and blogs. For those who are interested in getting into copywriting, please do your research. You can also take an online course to get a better understanding.
Web and graphic designers: If you’re good with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, and web designing then you can put a little money in your pocket. Trust me having some web and graphic knowledge has helped me for many years. If graphic design is a skill you would like to pick up, you can always do some research on YouTube and Google. If you’re looking to get into web designing, I suggest that you should learn the necessary coding first such as Html and CSS.
Photographers: If you have an eye and talent for photography, you can make some serious cash. To get started, you can post your photos on your social media account. I suggest that you create a social media strategy and market yourself online to build your brand. It is also a good idea to make your portfolio of all your photos. Then when you have created your brand and collection of photos, you can decide to offer your services. You can skip most of these steps if you already have a portfolio, but it is a must that you build an online presence.
Social Media Managers: If you spend a lot of time on social media or consider yourself social media savvy then this is the job for you. To become a Social Media Manager, you must manage social media accounts. A Social Media Manager entails such tasks as writing and scheduling posts, running ads, replying to fans/clients/ followers, and creating graphics. There are also many companies that have internships as a social media manager. Although it involves a lot of free work, this will help get your feet wet. When you get some experience, you can apply for paid positions on Indeed and Monster.
Blogger/vlogger/podcaster: Blogs, vlogs or podcasts are platforms that allow people to discuss their lives, their interests, their hobbies, etc. The difference between all is just the method of delivery whether it’s text, video or audio. If you’re interested, it requires a lot of content, organization, and creativity. It is also a bonus if you’re a good storyteller. Much of your money would come from affiliate marketing.
